Ute i kylan – Creative Being

”Out in the Cold”  Summary in English after the photos.

Snötäcket bäddar in landskapet och reflekterar solen i bländande vitt.

Lätt i själen.

Out in the cold

We have had a really mild winter.

But one day in early January, I went for a walk in a magical winter landscape. One of those fairy tale winter days where everything was just perfect.

The cold air was crisp and clear, just cold enough to make my cheeks turn red, but not hurt. Tiny tiny snowflakes sprinkled the air in fairy stardust sparkles as they were hit by the pale yellow winter sun. The snow cover blinded me as it reflected the sun.

It was such a fairy tale. Magical.

I had to pinch myself to realise it was all real. The magical feeling stayed with me for days afterwards. My soul so light. Astounded and happy.

Imagine that a winter walk on a perfect winter’s day can do that to you.

Have you had any winter so far this year where you are? What is the best thing about winter to you?

  1. Winters in southwest Germany or in the West are generally not very strong. It’s not so cold and there isn’t much snow – except in higher places like the Black Forest. But there was a longer period in January that was colder this year when temperatures didn’t go offen above 0 C° (as far as I noticed), one morning the temperature was around (or bellow) -10°. Now it’s getting warmer again. In Munich there was snow and it was colder. I enjoyed traveling to Munich once in December, a city that I like. But I would have liked to have seen more snow.

    • Yes we had that longer period of cold in January too when the snow came, but now it is all gone and it’s warm again. Between 0-3 degrees mostly. Snow is so beautiful but in all honesty, in a big city like Stockholm it’s quite nice not to have snow. It just causes a lot of trouble and it gets dirty. However Stockholm in fresh snow is REALLY beautiful. 🙂 Luckily Lidingö has a lot of countryside left so it is possible to enjoy the beauty of snow here in those parts. I have always wanted to visit the Black Forest ever since I watched an 80s German hospital TV show, Die Schwarzwald Klinik. I loved that show, I watched every episode, and the locations it was filmed in was SOO beautiful. I have basically only seen Berlin, Lübeck and Kiel in Germany so far. I loved both of them too.

      • Your pictures with snow are really marvelous. You have nature and a big city at the same time! I’ve been only a short time in Kiel and Lübeck (more often and longer in Berlin) and didn’t see much of the cities. In the north I’d like to see now the new building of the Elbphilarmonie in Hamburg. It took 10 years to be built. You certainly will have the opportunity to visit the Black Forest, although if you know nature in Sweden, the Black Forest would look much more modest. The Alps are also interesting and there are many places there to see and things to do….

  2. Vilka ljuvliga vinterbilder!!

Kram.
