Happy Easter – Creative Being

Categories:

I start this entry by wishing you a Happy Easter since it is Maundy Thursday when you read this. 🙂

I am looking forward to a long weekend. Four wonderful days off. I will be taking a photo walk, and possibly planning to document my Saturday for the blog some way. Not that anything special is going on but for fun. I will visit my grandmother on Easter Eve so will spend the day with her. So maybe you will get to meet my grandmother. How about that?

I haven’t decided what exactly we will do yet. If we just spend the day together at her place or if we go out for a car ride somewhere. All I know is that we will have a good day, granny and I. <3 She is the best mormor (maternal grandmother) in the world even when memory is failing her and things get confusing at the age of 93.

I have always been really close to my grandparents on both sides. I guess that is why I have always loved being around ”old” people. I feel safe around them. They are like potential extra grandparents all of them. 🙂

I feel lucky that I got to have all my grandparents in my life until I was 14 when my farfar (paternal granfather) died. Farmor died 1994 if I remember correctly. Morfar I think died 2002. Now I have only mormor left so she is a very special person in my life. We need to spend all the time we can together because at 93 she won’t be around forever. <3.

Grandparents are special, aren’t they?

  1. You are lucky that you still have your Mormor, and such a close relationship too. My grandparents are all long since departed now. My Farmor died when I was only 2 years old and yet I have the strongest memories of her- I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to know her as I grew up…
Wishing you and yours a very happy Easter <3

  2. My farfar died four years before I was born. My farmor died when I was 10 or so, my morfar a couple years later and eventually my mormor too – I can’t remember the exact years, but it was quite a while ago either of my grandparents still were alive.

Have a happy Easter weekend as well!

      • Yes, of course. My farmor used to live in the next apartment complex to ours, so she was very near. After the death of my morfar, my mormor moved around a lot and for a short while ended up in our same neighbourhood.

On my father’s side of the family, we held a big family reunion last year. While not every cousin and children of those could make it, a lot of us met – some for the first time ever. It was quite nice, I hope we can do it again even though our common farmor/mormor is long gone and our own parents are getting seriously old.

On my mother’s side though, while I don’t have many siblings, I barely know anyone by name, much less where they live today or what they do for a living. That is a bit sad, but perhaps it could be remedied one day.

      • OH a family reunion. That sounds great! Both my families (mother’s and father’s) have been really bad at spending time together and knowing each other. I hardly ever meet anyone besides my mother and my grandmother and my father and his parents when they are alive. It’s sad I think.
